UCONN Professor Christopher Vials returns to Charter Oak’s virtual platform with PROJECT 2025 AND AUTHORITARIAN AMBITION.
The Heritage Foundation’s “Project 2025” is a 900 page document that represents the American far right today, one of their only extensive policy blueprints. The talk will review its key elements and devote special attention to how it rationalizes authoritarianism. Project 2025’s “authoritarian ambitions” tell us a great deal about how authoritarianism presents itself in the 21st century United States, and how the American right presents itself differently from the fascist right of mid-century Europe.
