THE SEEDS WE SOW: A Brain-Based Approach to a Brighter Future with Professor Emeritus James Malley, CCSU
The Seeds We Sow: A Brain-Based Approach to a Brighter Future
This presentation will explore the brain as a living ecosystem that interacts with and is shaped by the very cultural and institutional environments it creates. Unlike millions of other species on the planet, only homo sapiens, the collective WE of humanity, has been gifted with the agency to create the kinds of environments that determine the health of our own brains and thus the quality and nature of our very being. As the writer and futurist Barbara Marx Hubbard suggested, an understanding of this interactive brain-environment relationship places into our hands the power and responsibility for our own “co-destruction or co-creation.”
Jim Malley is a Professor Emeritus and former Chair of the Department of Counselor Education at CCSU and, proudly, a teacher in COCC’s BOTS program that prepares people who are homeless for college admission.
