Revolutionary Read: Interactive Lecture

April 19, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join us for the latest installment of our free community reading series, focused on books that spark revolutionary conversations about social justice. In an exciting partnership with Hartford Public Library, this Spring we are featuring Citizen: An American Lyric!

Pick up a copy of the book at Hartford Public Library, Charter Oak Cultural Center, or your local book seller and start reading. On April 19, join us in the Charter Oak Sanctuary for an interactive lecture with UConn’s own Shardé M. Davis, Ph.D. Our current gallery exhibition, “Race and Revolution” will also be open for viewing from 6-8PM!

Then meet us again on April 26 at Hartford Public Library for an evening with Claudia Rankine, author of Hartford Public Library’s “The Big Read” book for 2018, Citizen: An American Lyric.

ABOUT REVOLUTIONARY READ: Quarterly, Charter Oak will pick a book that inspires conversation and embodies the spirit of radical change. We’ll then host an interactive lecture about the book, and engage in a lively discussion about its themes. (Coffee and tea will be provided.)

Speakers will be announced soon.
