Girlcott celebrates Women’s History Month with an exciting evening of documentary theatre, “Raising Our Voices: An Evening of Story and Song to End Gender Injustice.”
Created entirely through a series of workshops with Hartford-area women, “Raising Our Voice” looks at gender injustice through an intimately personal lens. Story, poetry, interview, song and self-revelation come together to explore how gender shapes us, divdes us, holds us back and lifts us up.
A piece of documentary theatre with a podcast aesthetic — think “This American Life” crossed with “The Vagina Monologues” — “Raising Our Voices” will be a powerful, funny and insightful evening of theatre.
“Raising Our Voices: An Evening of Story and Song to End Gender Injustice” will take place March 31 at 7 p.m. at Charter Oak Cultural Center. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for students and seniors. For more information, call 860-310-2580.
